Prof. Carlos, Deputy Secretary General of the Society, attended the preparatory meeting for the 7th International Conference of Palaeogeography in Beijing

In the morning,on June 3, a preparatory meeting for the 7th International Conference of Palaeogeography(ICP)was held by the International Society of Palaeogeography (ISP) in Beijing. The discussion is mainly related to schedule of the 7th International Conference on Palaeogeography, and also development of both the Chinese edition and the English edition of Journal of Palaeogeography.
Prof. Shenghe Wu, the President, Prof. Benzhong Xian, Secretary General, Prof. Carlos, Deputy Secretary General, Xiujuan Zheng, Editorial Director, and Yuan Wang, Executive Deputy Editor-in-chief and other directors attended the meeting, which was hosted by Yuan Wang , Director of Editorial Office of the Journal of Paleogeography(English Edition), who served as interpreter. Finally, it was completed the discussion on the content of the First Circular of the 7th International Conference of Palaeogeography.

During meeting breaks, Prof. Carlos also visited editorial office of the Journal of Paleogeography(English edition)with a pleasant conversation with the editors.

Prof. Carlos Zavala is an internationally recognized sedimentary geologist, who serves as a Council Member and Deputy Secretary General of the International Society of Palaeogeography(ISP),President of the Argentine Geological Society, Professor of the Department of Geology at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS), Editorial Board Member of the Chinese edition as well as the English edition of the Journal of Palaeogeography, and also Professor at the Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST). He received his B.S. degree in Geology in 1987, and a Ph.D. degree in Stratigraphy and Clastic Sedimentary Environments in 1993. He has conducted numerous theoretical and technical studies on clastic sedimentation from the Proterozoic to the Holocene in several sedimentary basins involving Argentina, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, China, Russia, and Oman, having published more than 200 papers and abstracts in domestic and international academic journals.
