Huaichun Wu
Huaichun Wu is a professor at China University of Geoscience (Beijing). He obtained his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in 2000 and 2005, respectively, from China University of Geoscience (Beijing). He has been working at the School of Ocean Science, China University of Geoscience (Beijing) since 2005. He served as a visiting scholar at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA from 2009 to 2010 and at Johns Hopkins University, USA in 2012.
Prof. Wu is a Sedimentologist whose research primarily focused on chronostratigraphy and paleoclimate. He teaches courses of Marine Geology and the Frontiers of Marine Geoscience at China University of Geoscience (Beijing). Prof. Wu has published over 170 academic papers in journals such as the Geology, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Nature Communications, Earth-Science Reviews, Geophysical Research Letters, GSA Bulletin, Marine Geology, Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Gondwana Research, etc.
Prof. Wu serves as the Director of the Division of Science and Technology at China University of Geoscience (Beijing) and the Dean of the School of Ocean Science at China University of Geoscience (Beijing). He was awarded the ‘Silver Hammer Award’ by the Geological Society of China in 2015, the ‘Hou Defeng Young Scientist Prize’ by the Chinese Society for Mineralogy Petrology and Geochemistry in 2016, the ‘Huang Jiqing Young Scientist Prize’ by the Geological Society of China in 2016, and the ‘Sun Shu Prize’ by the International Association of Sedimentologists in 2020. The ICDP project in Songliao Basin he participated has been awarded the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Awards from the Ministry of Education of China in 2022 (R4).
