The 2nd members meeting of the International Society of Palaeogeography (ISP) held in Beijing国际古地理学会第二届会员大会在北京召开
The 2nd Members Meeting of the International Society of Palaeogeography(ISP) was held at 2:30 p.m. on September 23, 2023(Beijing time) at the International Exchange Center of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) online and offline. More than 150 members from universities, research institutes and enterprises in China and abroad attended the meeting, including University of Texas at Arlington, USA; University of Regina, Canada; Kiel University (Germany), National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico), University of Athens (Greece), Polish Academy of Sciences, Umeå Origins Research Company (Sweden), Peking University, Nanjing University, Tongji University, Beijing Normal University, China University of Geosciences(Beijing), China University of Geosciences(Wuhan), China University of Petroleum(Beijing), China University of Petroleum(East China), China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Northwestern University, Yangtze River University, Northeast Petroleum University, Chengdu University of Technology, Southwest Petroleum University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, China National Petroleum Corporation and so on.
The meeting was hosted by Prof. Benzhong Xian, Secretary General of ISP, from China University of Petroleum (Beijing). First of all, Prof. Shenghe Wu, President of ISP, gave an annual work report of ISP to all members, emphasizing the progress of the Council of ISP in the past year in terms of setting up the Secretariat, collecting and establishing the logo of ISP, formulating the membership management, building the official website, and constructing and operating the public media, as well as the preparations for composition of the Secretariat, nomination of the directors, and construction of the Council of ISP. Meanwhile, Prof. Wu Shenghe introduced work planning of the preparation of the International Conference of Palaeogeography which will be held in May 2024 in Nanjing, China’s southeast provincial city. In addition, the most exciting new is that ISP intends to set up the "Feng Zengzhao Prize"(Named after the founder of ISP) in the form of Scientific Achievement Award and Young Scientist Award.
Afterwards, the "Regulations on Membership Management of the ISP" was adopted in the meeting, and 30 candidates were elected to join the council of ISP after voting by participats online and offline, combining with some votes from e-mail. Accordingly the International Society of Palaeogeography has further improved the professional and age structure of its members, and enhanced the capacity of the council in scientific research, journal construction, academic exchange, conference preparation, and scientific popularization.
The International Society of Palaeogeography is an international, academic and non-profit organization founded by Prof. Feng Zengzhao from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), which is voluntarily composed of experts in palaeogeography and its related disciplines from different countries in the world. It aims to provide a new platform for academic exchanges between the domestic and foreign palaeogeographical communities, to generate new momentum and promote innovation to palaeogeography research globally. As an international academic organization, ISP plays an active role in palaeogeography and paleoclimate restoration worldwide, reconstruction of evolutionary history of the earth, and exploration and development of mineral resources.
The success of the 2nd Members Meeting of International Society of Palaeogeography includes the adoption of "Regulations on Membership Management of the ISP" and election of Council members, which laied a solid foundation for the expansion of membership and the strengthening of the Council of ISP.

北京时间2023年9月23日下午2:30,国际古地理学会第二届会员大会在中国石油大学(北京)国际交流中心召开,会议采用线下、线上结合的方式进行。来自美国德州大学阿灵顿分校、加拿大里贾纳大学、德国基尔大学、墨西哥国立自治大学、希腊雅典大学、波兰科学院、瑞典于默奥起源研究公司,以及中国北京大学、南京大学、同济大学、北京师范大学、中国地质大学(北京)、中国地质大学(武汉)、中国石油大学(北京)、中国石油大学(华东)、中国矿业大学(北京)、西北大学、长江大学、东北石油大学、成都理工大学、西南石油大学、中国科学院、中国地质科学院、中国石油天然气集团公司等国内外高校、研究院所和企事业单位的150余名会员出席了本次会议。
会议由国际古地理学会秘书长、中国石油大学(北京)鲜本忠教授主持。首先,与会会员听取了学会理事长吴胜和教授作的国际古地理学会年度工作报告。报告总结了过去一年以来,学会理事会在秘书处设置、会标的征集与确立、会员管理办法的制定、学会官网建设、自媒体公众号建设与运行等方面的工作进展,以及在学会秘书处建设组成、理事提名及理事会建设等方面的筹备情况。同时,吴胜和教授还就近期的工作计划做了汇报,介绍了将于2024年5月在南京召开的第六届国际古地理学学术会议的准备情况。此外,国际古地理学会拟以科学成就奖和青年科学家奖的方式,设置“冯增昭奖”。
之后,经参会会员投票表决,会议表决通过了“国际古地理学会会员管理条例”;经参会会员的线上、线下投票,及部分会员会前通讯投票表决通过,增选了30理事加入学会理事会。通过此次学会理事增选,国际古地理学会进一步完善了理事会成员专业结构、年龄结构,提升了学会理事会在科学研究、期刊建设、学术交流、会议筹备、科学普及等方面的能力建设。
国际古地理学会为我校冯增昭先生发起创立的国际性、学术性、非营利性的学术型组织,由世界各国的古地理学及其相关学科的专家自愿组成。旨在为国内外古地理学界开展学术交流提供新平台,为我国及世界古地理学的研究发展带来新动能,将致力于促进世界各国古地理学的创新发展。国际古地理学会作为国际学术性机构,在全球古地理及古气候恢复、地球演化历史重建、矿产资源勘探开发等方面发挥着积极作用。
国际古地理学会第二届会员大会的胜利召开,通过了国际古地理学会会员管理条例、完成了新增理事选举,为学会扩大会员规模、加强了学会理事会建设,奠定了坚实基础。
